Microsoft has announced that Extended Support for Windows 7 will expire on January 14th 2020.
What does that mean for you?
Windows 7 will reach the end of it’s life-cycle, making an upgrade an absolutely essential task for your safety. No more feature updates will be released. If you still have computers running Windows 7, you need to act. Our recommendation is that if your computer is less than 3 years old, we suggest upgrading to Windows 10.
Risks of not upgrading to Windows 10
Windows 10 was released in 2015. It is much faster than Windows 7 and comes with many more features. It supports different apps and can be used on multiple devices such as PCs, smartphones, tablets, etc. Let’s take a look at some of the risks associated with not upgrading your operating system to Windows 10…
Hardware slowdown
Windows 7 was released ten years ago and thus, it has become outdated and slow. It is not capable of running on the latest hardware and as a result, it causes system slowdowns and crashes.
No technical or security support from Microsoft
As mentioned above, after January 2020, you will not receive any security updates or technical assistance from Microsoft. It could result in a number of threats such as viruses, malware, hacks, etc.
Bug battles
Every operating system is susceptible to bugs, which are identified and fixed by Microsoft. However, with the end of extended support, there will be no more fixing of bugs.
Software incompatibility
Windows 7 does not support all the new apps and software. Therefore, there is a high chance that you will not be able to use them on Windows 7. So in order to run the new apps and software, Windows 10 is necessary.
Hacker attacks
To prevent hacking and other threats, constant updates are necessary. Once the date expire, no updates will be provided by Microsoft. Therefore, to get the updates, you need to upgrade to Windows 10.
